What is Moodle?
Moodle is a fully functional, highly flexible, open source Learning Platform (also known as a Learning Management System or Virtual Learning Environment).
Moodle was created in 2001 by Martin Dougiamas based on the idea of providing teachers with tools to create interesting activities that engage students in active, team learning. Currently, Moodle is used in over 230 countries by more than 70 million users.
The Moodle headquarters is supported by a global network of certified Moodle Partners. She constantly works with developers and educators around the world to effectively support the ever-growing community of Moodle users.

Moodle on VU
The Vistula University is one amongst the oldest non-public universities in Poland. Established in 1992 under the name of the University of Insurance and Banking, it achieved its current status through dynamic development and contacts with other non-public higher education institutions. In 2019, Aleksander Gieysztor Academy in Pułtusk became one of our branches, and from 2025 it also has branches in Gdańsk, Braniewo, Tczew, Słupsk, Olsztyn and Kętrzyn. From January 2026 the Warsaw Management University became a part of VU.
Moodle e-learning platform is used in VU from 2010. Initially, the limited extent, as aid for students of the Information Technology, is currently used by lecturers and students most directions conducted at the university. Maintenance and expansion of the platform deals with the scientific and e-learning center. Due to its great interest from the lecturers, in 2015, an additional page for learning Moodle and the training of the platform's functionalities was launched for them.
